The Tampa Bay area is home to several companies specializing in the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of decentralized wastewater treatment systems. When your drains are backing up or it’s time for a routine septic tank pumping, how do you know you are choosing the most trusted professionals for the job? Damaged septic systems can be extremely, costly so don’t take the chance of hiring someone who’s unqualified. Instead, consider Southern Water and Soil, Inc. for your next wastewater treatment project.

Experience
Southern Water and Soil, Inc. is owned and operated by Greg Mayfield, registered sanitarian, environmental health specialist, and septic contractor. Greg’s interest in environmental science arose at a young age, as he served as the chapter president of Desoto County High School’s FFA organization, leading his chapter to a 7th place finish in the state soil judging competition.

Upon high school graduation, Greg entered the University of South Florida, where he received a degree in geography with a specialization in environmental studies in 1996. He later received a graduate certificate in hydrogeology—the study of the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the Earth’s crust. In addition to his educational background, Greg gained valuable experience as a septic tank inspector for the Florida Department of Health and as staff hydrology and FARMS program project manager with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

In November 2004, Greg founded Southern Water and Soil, Inc. Bob Dasta, Vice President of Engineering, serves as his “right hand man.” Bob has designed several septic systems and worked previously for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

With 30+ years of combined experience, it is apparent Greg, Bob, and the rest of the staff at Southern Water and Soil know the ins and outs of wastewater treatment.

The company is also an OEM distributor of their own line of septic controls, allowing them to offer quality products at affordable prices.

Not only do the experts at SWS design and install septic systems, but they are also available for any inspection, maintenance, and repair. In other words, SWS offers a full circle of services to their customers.

During the installation and design process, SWS will consider the number of people to use the system, examine the size of your lawn, measure the water table depth, and inspect the soil type to ensure you will receive the best wastewater treatment results possible. SWS installs 200 to 100,000 gallon wastewater systems which allows them to work for residential and commercial clients such as Lutz Medical Center, Brownell Hair Salon, and a retail center in Tampa.

SWS also provides septic system maintenance services and follows a three-step process: septic tank pumping, bacteria and enzyme addition, and filter cleaning. Rejuvenation services are also offered for slow drain field systems with heavy biomat or solid (grease, soap, and/or hair) buildup.
